The Coming Wave of COVID-19 Lawsuits

Coronavirus has changed our world and our workplace, for now and possibly forever. For the first six months of this pandemic employers have scrambled trying to manage their businesses within a new set of safety obligations and responsibilities, and manage their employees, many of whom are working remotely for the first time. Employers also had to learn, very quickly, a maze of new laws, regulations, and acronyms, such as the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, the CARES Act, and PPP.

If the first wave of COVID-19 concerns for employers was compliance, the second wave is litigation. For every new legal obligation COVID-19 fostered upon employers comes the consequences of non-compliance. The stakes of these consequences increase exponentially in a world of 20 percent unemployment in which employees have little to lose and a lot to gain by filing lawsuits.

This webinar will discuss the six most likely areas of litigation facing employers resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. You will learn:

  1. What are the wage-and-hour risks from employees working remotely?
  2. What are the risks from failing to accommodate employees who are at a higher risk for contracting COVID-19?
