BOD Position Descriptions – Vice President of Programs

Position Summary

Manage the development and provision of programs, workshops, seminars, and other services provided by the chapter.

Responsible To

Chapter members, Chapter President

Responsibilities

  • Select topics and speakers for monthly program meetings in order to provide information on topics of broad interest to chapter members.

  • Provide information regarding programs and services to members, potential members, and others, through presentation, written communications, and personal contact.

  • Contact potential speakers and make arrangements for selected meetings. Write articles for newsletters describing the programs.

  • Review final preparations for meetings to assure that meetings run smoothly. This includes ensuring the speaker’s A/V equipment is prepared for the meeting (i.e., screen, microphone, overhead projector).

  • Announce the speaker at the chapter meetings and present the speaker with a thank you gift from the chapter at the conclusion of the meeting.

  • Review program evaluations for feedback to be used in planning future events.

  • Keep abreast of developments in the human resources field in order to provide timely programs and services.

  • Act as liaison between the Board of Directors and the committee chairs.

  • Attend all monthly membership and Board of Directors meetings.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategic planning.

  • Represent the chapter in the Human Resources community.

  • Complete other assignments as requested by the President or the Board of Directors.

Requirements

Must be an SHRM member in good standing elected by the chapter membership.
