Position Summary – Director of Programs

The Director of Programs is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing educational and professional development programs that support SHRM's mission and provide value to members. This role ensures high-quality programming aligned with SHRM standards, member needs, and chapter strategic goals, working collaboratively with board members, volunteers, speakers, and partners to deliver engaging and relevant programs.

Reports To:

  • Members of the Chapter
  • The Chapter President

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee educational programs, workshops, seminars, and events for SHRM members.
  • Develop an annual program calendar aligned with chapter goals and member interests.
  • Identify emerging HR trends and topics relevant to the membership.
  • Identify, recruit, and coordinate speakers, presenters, and panelists.
  • Ensure program content meets SHRM guidelines and supports professional development, including recertification credits.
  • Review and approve program materials for quality and relevance.
  • Collaborate with other board members to ensure a successful event or meeting.
  • Serve as an active member of the SHRM chapter board.
  • Build relationships with sponsors, community partners, and other SHRM chapters when appropriate.
  • Gather feedback and assess program effectiveness.
  • Track attendance and provide regular updates to the board on programming outcomes and recommendations.

Requirements

  • Must be a SHRM national member and Chapter member in good standing.
